Bangkok Deaths Remembered on Hollywood Boulevard

If you were on Hollywood Boulevard last Saturday night, you may have seen this demonstration, something that mirrored, but on a smaller level, a rally of remembrance in Bangkok. While the political and violent drama that's been taking place in Bangkok this year hasn't exactly been played out in local media, other outlets have been following the drama. Here's what the Telegraph said in May:

In the full glare of the world's media, Thailand's military is conducting a brutal suppression of protests staged by the so-called Red Shirts. The use of live ammunition against civilians equipped with rudimentary means of defending themselves, simply to clear the protesters' encampment from a relatively small area of Bangkok, is impossible to justify. The sight of people scampering for cover in an attempt to escape sniper fire is reminiscent of Sarajevo in the early 1990s. Since the army first moved against the Red Shirts last Friday, at least 33 people have been killed and hundreds injured.

The BBC in May also did a nice Q & A on what was going on.
