UDD to honor taxi driver who opposed coup

UDD submits a letter to Chairman of the House of Representatives glorifying a taxi driver who runs his cab into a tank to oppose against Coup d’état.

The United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), led by Mr. Somyos Prueksakasemsuk (สมยศ พฤกษาเกษมสุข), handed a letter to Deputy House Speaker Colonel Apiwan Wiriyachai (อภิวันท์ วิริยะชัย) requesting the House of Representatives to honor the taxi driver Mr. Nuamthong Praiwan, who rammed his car into a tank parked at the Royal Plaza on Sept 30, 2006, and committed suicide later on by hanging himself.

Therefore, Mr. Praiwan should be honored as a hero for his fight for democracy and opposition against Coup d’état, while requesting October 30 of every year to be commemorated as the “National Against Coup d’état” day.
