Official documents confirm Thaksin's resignation as Hun Sen's adviser










Official documents confirming Thaksin Shinawatra's resignation as economic adviser to Cambodian Premier Hun Sen and Cambodian government have been published on two websites: Khmer NZ News and www.khmerization.blogspot.com.
Both the government statement and the royal decree say that Thaksin's resignation was effective as of Aug 23 (today).

The documents lauded Thaksin's contributions to Cambodia's developments.

"Mr Thaksin Shinawatra had made very important contributions in dispending advices, in providing vision and had brought abundant experiences to help promote Cambodia's competitiveness, especially in trade, investment, agriculture and tourism sectors. His Excellency had helped to attract large investors to have interest in Cambodia's potentials in the abgovementioned sectors..." the statement says.

The statement added: "Due to his personal difficulties in the fulfillment of his role, His Excellency Thaksin Shinawatra had asked to be releived of his position."

The statement added that the government of Cambodia accepts Thaksin's resignation and thanked hm for his many contributions to Cambodia's economy.

Thaksin was made adviser to the Cambodian government on Oct 27, last year, a move that prompted the Thai government to recall its ambassador.

Premier Abhisit Vejjajiva said today that he might send the ambassador back to Phnom Penh tomorrow to resume diplomatic relations after Thaksin's resignation as adviser to the Cambodian goernment.
